My outrage of the day

Today on my way to work I noticed that already 2 radio stations are playing Christmas music around the clock! When I went to the mall 2 weeks ago they already had their bloody Christmas decorations up! I'm sorry, but this is not acceptable. They're going to keep doing it earlier every year to squeeze as much $$ out of people as they can, until people like you and I start complaining.

All this Christmas crap and Christmas isn't for 2 months!!

Why would animals have voted for Bush?

I heard this joke the other day and it was quite amusing: Es geht:
Why would animals have voted for Bush in the 2004 presidential election? Because if invaded they fight back!

I'm sorry to admit, but Andre Agassi's farewell speech at the U.S. Open after his 3rd round loss to the German, Benjamin Becker made me cry and as I thought of it several days later I was still crying. Mum said: "After that speech, Agassi for president"!
And a big congratulations to Maria Sharapova who won her 1st U.S. Open last night :) Marry me, Maria?

A few selected poems for your delight, but not Turkish Delight ha!

This was taken from a new book we got in at the library: "Cat Poems"

"Awful Day"

"I had an awful day at school.
My teacher made a fuss.
I didn't get my homework in,
and then I missed the bus"

"A barking dog chased me home
Oh no! I've lost my key!
I'll crawl through the window. Ouch!
I think I scraped my knee!

"The television doesn't work.
I can't take any more!
But now I see Melanie
is strolling through the door"

"She rubs her head against my leg,
and I'm no longer sad-
for suddenly my awful day
is really not so bad"

"Stay, Little Stray"

"Stay, little stray, don't go away.
You look so hungry and thin.
Don't be so shy; there's no need to cry.
Don't be afraid to come in"

"Here is a dish; eat as you wish.
No need to forage and roam.
I'm stroking your fur, hearing you purr.
Tiger, you just found a home!"

"Catnap"

"Eyes blinking sleepily, just before dawn,
he stirs at the foot of the bed,
greeting the day with a satisfied yawn
while stretching and bowing his head"

"Now he approaches and gives me a nudge,
awaiting the touch of my hand.
Snuggling closer, he knows I won't budge.
His wish is my drowsy command"

"Not ready for the morning alarm,
with dreamland appointments to keep,
he cuddles up close in the crook of my arm.
Together, we drift back to sleep"

This is a very clever, wonderful book. It's written by: Dave Crawley, illustrations by: Tamara Petrosino

Lebanon: the new battleground against Israel

This was what a citizen of Beirut, Lebanon (the capital) had to say about the recent explosion of violence in Israel and Lebanon and I've taken it from BBC's "Have Your Say" segment of the website: "Hezbollah, Syria and Iran are using our country as a battleground against Israel".

I'm proud of Bush for standing up to international pressure to criticize Israel, where he says "Israel has a right to defend herself" and I'm in agreement. At the annual G8 Summit in St. Petersburg, Russia, president Bush was the only leader to hold Hezbollah responsible for the flare up of violence, whereas the other 7 leaders blame Israel. Israel is constantly fending off rocket attacks from northern Lebanon, at least they're doing something about it now!
